No more soggy bottoms
Don't worry I'm not about to announce the demise of the Great British Bake Off, but the result of my latest sewing project.
With all the rain we have been having I needed to do something to prevent getting a soggy bottom from my bike saddle. I found a pattern in The Liberty Book of Simple Sewing for a fabric saddle cover, and thought I would give it a go.
The main change I made was to use laminated cotton for the top layer of fabric; I then used a layer of wadding and a layer of cotton as suggested. Making the saddle cover both soft on the bottom and waterproof. I was in two minds about whether I should quilt the saddle cover or not; but I'm glad that I decided to in the end, I think it looks really good. And, of course, my new saddle cover matches my panniers.
